I run Windows 10 x64 bit Pro version. The computer can’t find a driver and lists the adapter as “Unknown device” in device manager and has a yellow exclamation mark right next to its name “XBOX ACC”. I already talked to my local electronics shop pretty huge store “Saturn” which is a major electronics brand in Europe. The clerk there told me that only within the last 2 hours two other customers came in and returned their wireless dongle because of the exact same issue I’m describing!

We really need a manually installable driver. I understand that you are unable to install Xbox One Controller wireless adapter on Windows 10 due to driver issue. You however get an incomplete installation. The second problem is once the partial install goes through you have to delete any instance of the install good luck finding the registry key assigned to the install. Unless Microsoft publishes the drivers for download you can try three things, which is to find the registry that it is assigned to the hardware or perhaps someone can post a better way to find it I am not that savvy with registry edit. The last option, is what I did, which is to do a windows reset not a full wipe.

Even though that sounds like the worst option it might be the fastest way to accomplish it without the drivers. For the reset it will wipe anything installed not downloaded all files you created will still be there. You just have to re-install programs that you have installed. I just bought one and couldn’t get it to work as well. You saved me a lot of frustration. That’s the issue. Windows 10 isn’t able to find the drivers. You manually have to browse the update catalog only works with Internet Explorer and perhaps Edge and search for “xbox wireless adapter” the get a hold of the drivers.

The drivers should be found by Windows automatically since it’s all about plug ‘n play in this case. Please fix the drivers and please make them clearly available from the support site for the controller and the adapter for it itself.
