Bài mẫu IELTS chủ đề Teaching Students Using Technology
The debate over the relevance of traditional textbooks in modern education is increasingly pertinent as digital media gains prominence. While some argue that schools should abandon books in favor of films, television, video games, and computers, I disagree with that opinion, as modern resources remain essential for effective learning.
There are reasons to claim that schools can eschew teaching from books and use modern mediums exclusively for education. Firstly, some printed books are outdated, and may therefore fail to attract learners. This is a valid concern, as these days, many young students are surrounded with electronic devices and modern interactive media as part of their upbringing. These mediums can capture the youth’s attention more effectively, leaving little focus for textbooks. In addition to this, learning from electronic devices can expose students to visual and auditory stimuli that make studying more dynamic. An education app on smartphones, for instance, may enrich the user experience with a feisty virtual assistant who dispenses tutorials or guidance to students, which is an impossibility for traditional books.
On the other hand, abandoning textbooks entirely would not be a beneficial approach. This is initially because books offer a structured approach to learning. As opposed to knowledge picked up from electronic media, lessons from textbooks are usually comprehensive and organized in a way that helps students systematically build foundational knowledge. This is especially true for books on fundamental topics, which require little revision or update, such as mathematical equations and theorems. Studying from digital media, moreover, necessitates screen time, which may contribute to health issues such as eye strain. To offset this risk would call for a reduction in learning time, however, which limits the amount of absorbed knowledge. A student who uses textbooks suffers from no such restrictions and can learn as much as they want.
In conclusion, while films, television or computers can definitely enhance one’s learning experience, schools should not replace traditional textbooks with them. If possible, academic institutions should combine both approaches to provide an education that is both insightful and enjoyable.
