In the current context, the world has been confronting a multitude of urgent global issues in all fields of human life. This prompts some people to emphasize the critical need for harmonious relationships between every nation in order to solve these problems, with which I totally agree.
First and foremost, international cooperation will facilitate the sharing of knowledge and technology for tackling today’s global issues. Many urgent issues such as climate change and global pandemics require cutting-edge technologies in order to truly solve the root of these matters and achieve sustainable development. However, the level of technology varies from one country to another and developing countries are put at an obvious disadvantage compared to developed ones. In this situation, multinational collaboration will emerge as a channel for disadvantaged countries to emulate the approach experienced countries adopt in solving these issues. For instance, Vietnam can learn from the Netherlands in dealing with rising sea levels because the Netherlands is one of the worst-affected countries by this phenomenon but has been an exemplar in countering it.
Another rationale for promoting cooperation between every nation lies in the coordination of efforts in the right direction. Although every nation desires to solve today’s global problems, they can employ divergent methods to achieve their objective. However, some of these approaches may clash with each other, leading to the ultimate failure to solve the issue. For instance, in 2017, the US withdrew from the Paris Agreement in climate change because it believed it was reducing climate change so effectively with its existing economic system that the US did not need to cooperate with other nations. Therefore, should countries have a healthy relationship with each other, they can agree on solutions that blend well with those of other nations, thus ensuring the objective is accomplished.
In conclusion, with a view to tackling today’s global issues, countries should be on good terms with each other owing to knowledge sharing and proper orientation of efforts. It is worth remembering that a nation should also augment its own capability at the same time so that cooperation can bring out the optimal outcome.
