The line graph illustrates the proportion of news receivers who used four media types from 1995 to 2025, a period of 30 years. Overall, the percentage of Internet users is predicted to rise dramatically while the figures for TV, newspaper, and radio tend to decline over the given period.
Online news, an uncommon means to get updated to the current affair, is expected to increase in popularity shortly. From 1995 to 2000, it was the news intake having the lowest number of readers, at approximately 1%. However, the figure increased to 40% in 2020, forty times the starting point of this medium. By 2022, over half of the users will use the Internet as the dominant information provider.
In stark contrast, people have the tendency to rely less on three other sources for information. TV was once the most common channel for people to gather information, constituting 70% of the users in 1995. In the rest of the time scale, the statistics slightly fell and 50% of viewers will remain by 2025. Likewise, newspapers and radio had a relatively similar proportion of news receivers, at about 55%. As the time changes, their figures are anticipated to drop considerably by a half and radio being the least favorable means.
