Tính từ trong tiếng Anh là gì?
Tính từ trong tiếng Anh (Adjective) hay được người học viết tắt là “adj” là các từ được dùng để miêu tả đặc điểm, tính cách, đặc tính,… của sự vật, hiện tượng. Tính từ đóng vai trò bổ trợ cho danh từ.
Ví dụ: Different, Beautiful, Useful, able, Popular, Difficult, Mental, Similar, Emotional, Strong, Actual,… là những tính từ thông dụng.
Làm sao để nhận biết tính từ trong tiếng Anh
Tính từ trong tiếng Anh rất đa dạng. Chúng ta có thể nhận biết tính từ trong tiếng Anh bằng nhiều cách. Một số cách phổ biến được nhiều người áp dụng bên dưới đây.
– Căn cứ vào đuôi của từ. Những từ có tận cùng là “-ful”, “-ive”, “-able”, “-ous”, “-cult”, “-ish”, “-ed”, “-y”, “-al” sẽ là tính từ.
Ví dụ: helpful, attractive, reliable, serious, difficult, selfish, outdated, lovely, natural,…
– Tính từ sẽ đứng trước danh từ và đứng sau động từ tobe.
Ví dụ: I’m good boy
– Tính từ cũng thường đứng sau các động từ cảm xúc look, sound, feel, get, become, turn, seem, hear, smell.
Ví dụ: I feel tired
– Tính từ còn đứng sau các từ someone, anyone, something, anything,..
Ví dụ: He’ll tell you something funny
Trật tự sắp xếp của tính từ trong một câu
Nếu trong một câu có nhiều tính từ cùng xuất hiện thì sẽ được sắp xếp như thế nào cho hợp lý? Trong trường hợp này bạn hãy nhớ trật tự tính từ theo câu thần chú OSASCOMP sau:
Opinion => Size => Age => Shape => Color => Origin => Material => Purpose ((Ý kiến => Kích cỡ => Độ tuổi => Hình dáng => Màu sắc => Xuất xứ => Chất liệu => Mục đích)
