I’ve got to admit that history is not really my cup of tea but I always take pride in my homeland’s long-standing history. And if asked about one particular event that particularly stands out to me, I will confidently cite the Reunification Day.
The Reunification Day took place on 30 April, 1975. After all strenuous efforts to ignite revolutionary morale and regain independence in different provinces, Vietnamese army decided to put an end to the Vietnam war by attacking the headquarter of the enemy directly and bravely. And what must be must be, our country overtook the US-backed authorities and celebrated our victory by raising the national flag of Vietnam at the top of the enemy’s palace so proudly.
The reason why this day is truly a blast is that the Reunification Day marked the roaring success of Vietnamese Revolution after more than a century, signified a promising beginning for a new reunified country: The Socialist Republic of Vietnam. This was the proof that Vietnam will never be brought to its knees but will always find a way to rise above and prove itself.
One more interesting reason why the Reunification Day stands out to me personally: it is the longest public holiday and I always take advantage of this to go in for awesome vacations. But don’t worry, all our efforts, our heroes for us to have this Reunification Day will always linger in my mind.
