Bài mẫu Describe a time when you helped someone

I would like to talk about the time when I lent a hand to one of my juniors in my high school.
It all started when I was coming to the end of grade 11. At that time, I won the first prize in a regional English writing contest and became quite popular among English-specialized students. One day, one of the English-specialized students in grade 10 contacted me, shared with me how much he admired me and wanted to follow suit. Summer break was coming and free time was all around so I told him to send me any of his essays before giving any comment. It struck me that his idea was really one of a kind but he was still a tenderfoot in getting his argument across and controlling his overuse of advanced vocabularies.

Busy as I was as a senior student, but for the potential he possessed, I still gave constructive criticism to him and told him that he could hand in his essays to me on a regular basis. From time to time, I introduced him to new writing concepts and academic rules, supervised his argumentation and the use of words. The outcome really paid off as about one year later, he won the first prize in the same writing contest I had participated. Also after all these kinds of tutoring, he and I have become close friends in real life because we share many things in common like university choices, travel craze, …

I felt extremely honored when I helped him achieve the prize but what I felt mostly was gratitude because I didn’t expect that helping a person could bring you a buddy just as the saying goes “A friend in need is a friend indeed”.
